Dance for Peace has a life long commitment to the development of new dance in Australia. Maria’s exploration of her own dance technique began twenty years ago when she danced in a number of landscapes around Australia, exploring the power of the Elements through her body. She has danced on the cliffs at Sydney’s North Heads to the caves of Jenolan in the Blue Mountains, from the forests in Victoria, to the northern wheat fields in South Australia. The development of her new technique is her life’s work. Along with this, Maria has invented and developed the first prototype of a new dance shoe which is currently under patent. Dance for Peace is thus at the beginning of pushing the boundaries of new dance in Australia, through its: Educational Programmes, Dance/Drama style, Technique and Dance shoe.
